Understanding christianity and its diversity

This Religion and worldviews video supports teachers in introducing children to the origins, history and rich diversity within the Christian worldview. It explains how Christianity developed from Jewish scripture, highlighting the prophecies about a coming Messiah and how many Christians believe these are fulfilled in the life of Jesus. The video also explores how the Roman Empire helped spread Christianity, how Catholicism and Protestantism developed, and how beliefs and practices can vary greatly among denominations and cultures.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews scheme – christianity. It helps teachers approach Christianity not as a single uniform tradition, but as a faith with many expressions, practices and interpretations. It prepares teachers to explore diversity sensitively, address common misconceptions (such as the identity of Jesus), and create inclusive, respectful discussions that recognise and affirm pupils’ own worldviews, whether religious or not.
