The Zoroastrian worldview
This Religion and worldviews video supports teachers in understanding the Zoroastrian worldview—one of the world’s oldest known monotheistic religions. It introduces key beliefs such as the existence of one God, Ahura Mazda, the importance of choosing between good and evil through thoughts, words and deeds, and the significance of fire as a symbol of divine presence. Teachers will learn about Zoroaster, the prophet of the religion, and the Avesta, its sacred scripture. It also highlights differences in practice between Zoroastrians in Iran and Parsis in India, including rituals, ethical teachings and views on the afterlife.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews scheme – God. It helps teachers explore minority worldviews with clarity and confidence, building subject knowledge around sacred texts, prophets, temples and moral teachings. It prepares teachers to facilitate respectful discussion, address misconceptions, and connect Zoroastrian beliefs to broader concepts such as God, ritual, death, and diversity within and across worldviews.
