Understanding the Humanist worldview

This Religion and worldviews video supports teachers in delivering a unit that explores key beliefs from the humanist worldview. It introduces how humanists use reason, empathy and experience to guide moral decision-making without relying on religious authority or belief in a God. Teachers will learn about humanist beliefs around life, death, and meaning, including the idea that there is no afterlife and that consequences are experienced in the here and now.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews resources – Humanist. It equips teachers to explain that many humanists find meaning through relationships, personal growth, community, and making a positive contribution to the world. Teachers are supported in promoting respectful understanding of different worldviews, including those that do not include belief in a creator. The video helps address common misconceptions and supports thoughtful classroom discussions around life’s purpose, identity and shared human values.
