Using loops in soundtracks
This Computing scheme of work introduces teachers to using loops and nested loops to compose digital soundtracks. It helps pupils understand how repetition in code can be used to create rhythmic patterns, background music and layered effects in Scratch.
The video demonstrates how to add the music extension and use repeat and forever loops to play beats, notes and sound effects. It explains how nested loops can repeat smaller sequences within a larger structure, allowing pupils to compose more complex and varied soundtracks.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing Music unit. It equips teachers with practical strategies to support pupils in exploring musical creativity through coding, using loops to build structured, engaging sound projects.
