Creative sock puppet characters

This archived Art and design scheme of work video introduces teachers to the second lesson in a puppet-making series, where Key stage 2 pupils create imaginative sock puppet characters. It explores how to build simple structures with everyday materials, adding personality and detail through fabric, felt, card, and decoration. The video demonstrates each stage, from preparing the mouth with a cardboard insert and attaching features such as eyes, eyebrows, and teeth, to encouraging pupils to experiment with their own creative ideas and monster designs.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s original LKS2 Art and design resources. It supports teachers in guiding pupils to explore character design, construction techniques, and creative storytelling, while developing fine motor skills and confidence through playful puppet-making projects.
