Predator–prey relationships

This Science video introduces teachers to a lesson on producers, prey, and predators, using the Canadian lynx and snowshoe hare as an example. Pupils model population changes through an outdoor tag rugby–style game, then analyse how predator and prey numbers affect each other over time. The lesson also develops skills in graph plotting and interpreting patterns in line graphs, helping pupils link real-world data to cyclical changes in ecosystems.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Science – relations resources. It supports teachers in guiding pupils to use scientific vocabulary accurately, understand the balance between species populations, and make predictions based on data trends. The activities encourage active learning, discussion, and application of concepts to new scenarios.
