Preparing automaton frame parts

This Design and technology scheme of work video supports teachers in guiding the children in preparing wooden and card components for an automaton toy frame. It demonstrates how to mark and saw wood safely using a bench hook, label pieces for straightforward assembly and create axle holes using either a drill or a punched card. The video also explains how to measure and cut the frame supports and card tops, ensuring all parts are ready for construction in the following lesson.

This video breaks down each step clearly and safely. It aims to build teacher confidence with tools and materials, helping them effectively support the children during the practical automaton-making sessions.
