How does population affect the environment in our local area?

In this Geography video, teachers are supported in leading a structured piece of fieldwork to investigate how population levels impact the local environment. Teachers are guided through safety preparation, mapping the fieldwork route using an Ordnance Survey map and selecting two contrasting data collection points — one busy and one quiet.

The video walks through three key data collection methods. Back in the classroom, the follow-up lesson supports the children to write a typed report, insert a digital map and present their findings and recommendations. Designed to build confidence in leading meaningful geographical enquiry, this video forms part of Kapow Primary’s Geography fieldwork videos and builds confidence in leading meaningful geographical enquiry.
