Investigating marine litter
This Geography scheme of work video introduces teachers to the enquiry-led fieldwork that helps pupils understand how to care for our marine environments. It supports you in delivering a meaningful, real-world investigation linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, encouraging environmental responsibility and data-handling skills.
You’ll explore practical classroom and outdoor approaches that empower pupils to take positive action, like reducing plastic use, promoting recycling, and supporting sustainable consumption. The video also explains how to guide pupils through data collection and representation, including tally charts, sketch maps, and digital mapping, all of which can be tailored to your setting (beach, river, lake or pond).
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Geography – Fieldwork videos. It prepares you to lead an impactful fieldwork project and discussion around sustainability, helping pupils reflect on their environmental footprint.
