Automaton assembly and decoration

This Design and technology scheme of work video supports teachers in helping children complete their automaton toys by adding a housing to conceal the internal mechanism. It shows the key processes of measuring and cutting accurately, attaching the housing securely while allowing access for adjustments and design characters to connect to the follower mechanisms. Teachers are guided through techniques such as using mirrored drawings for rotating designs and adding a handle to improve usability.

The video simplifies construction and design steps so teachers feel confident and well prepared to support the children in finishing their automaton projects successfully in the lesson and unit below.
