Exploring The Scream

This archived Art and design scheme of work video introduces teachers to a lesson inspired by one of the world’s most famous paintings, The Scream. It explores how Key stage 2 pupils can engage with art through questioning, interpretation, and emotional response, before recreating their own expressive versions. The video demonstrates each step, from studying the painting in detail using digital resources to experimenting with poses, capturing photographs, and editing or collaging these onto backgrounds to create dramatic, personalised artworks.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s original KS2 Art and design resources. It provides teachers with clear guidance to help pupils connect emotion and creativity, combining digital or hands-on techniques to produce powerful pieces for class displays
