Transforming spaces with colour

This archived Art and design scheme of work video introduces teachers to a lesson inspired by contemporary designers Morag Myerscough and Luke Morgan, who transform spaces through colour, shape, and typography. It encourages Key stage 2 pupils to respond to a design brief with context, considering whether their ideas are for school, the community, or beyond. The video demonstrates each stage, from sketching shapes and colour schemes to annotating plans and presenting ideas to a client, emphasising creativity, collaboration, and justifying design decisions.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s original KS2 Art and design resources. It supports teachers in inspiring pupils with real-world design practice, helping them to think like professional designers and develop creativity, problem-solving, and aspirations within the creative and cultural industries.
