Food prep: Juicing techniques
This Design and technology scheme of work video introduces teachers to the progression of juicing and pressing skills taught throughout primary school. It equips them with the knowledge to guide the children, safely using age-appropriate tools to extract juice and flavour from foods. The video explores early crushing techniques using mashers on soft fruits in Reception, juicing citrus fruits in Key stage 1 and garlic pressing in Key stage 2. Teachers receive clear health and safety guidance and are shown how to model each step to help the children build confidence and independence in food preparation.
