Constructing the toy frame

This Design and technology scheme of work video introduces teachers to assembling the frame for automaton toys, guiding them through the step-by-step construction process. It covers how to correctly position and glue structural components (A, B, and C pieces), align holes for moving parts and securely attach card panels and supports. Teachers are shown how to ensure accurate alignment and stability, preparing the frame for the cam and follower mechanisms to be added in the next stage.

This video simplifies construction techniques, helping teachers feel confident and prepared to support the children in building a sturdy automaton frame in the lesson and unit below.
