Woodland wonders

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work. In this video, you’ll explore the woodland habitat and discover the plants and animals that live there. You’ll see how trees, plants, and wildlife interact with the environment and with each other to survive through the seasons.

You’ll learn about deciduous and evergreen trees, spot seasonal plants like wild garlic and bluebells, and find out how animals such as squirrels prepare for winter. The video also shows how woodlands provide shelter, food, and nesting places for birds and homes for insects and other small creatures. By the end, you’ll understand how the woodland habitat meets the needs of all its inhabitants, from tiny minibeasts to hedgehogs, and be inspired to spot them on your next woodland walk.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, Key stage 1, Year 2, Living things: Habitats, Lesson 4: Woodland habitats
