Introducing AI
This Computing scheme of work video introduces pupils to the key facts about Artificial Intelligence (AI), helping them understand what it is and how it works. It explains that AI is a type of technology that allows computers to do tasks that usually need people —like learning, solving problems and understanding language.
The video shows how AI learns using algorithms—sets of instructions—and explains machine learning, where AI improves over time by being trained with lots of data. For example, AI can learn to recognise cats by looking at thousands of cat pictures, just like we get better at things by practising.
Pupils also discover how AI is already part of everyday life. From video games and voice assistants to photo sorting and streaming suggestions, AI is working in the background to help, organise and personalise our experiences.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Year 6 Exploring AI unit. It helps pupils begin to explore how AI works and why it matters, laying the foundation for deeper learning in future lessons.
