Exploring the world of minibeasts

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and introduces the fascinating world of minibeasts, small creatures without backbones known as invertebrates. The video explores a wide range of these animals, from soft-bodied slugs and snails with eye stalks to speedy ants and flying bees with see-through wings.

Pupils observe the features of different minibeasts, such as body parts, patterns, movement, and where they live – from soil-dwelling worms to spiders in dark corners and ladybirds with hidden wings. The video encourages close observation and curiosity about the natural world, inspiring pupils to search for minibeasts outdoors and explore their unique characteristics.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, Reception, Reception units, Animal adventures, Lesson 2: Describing minibeasts
