Using sounds in scratch

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Computing scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and explores how to add and use sounds in a Scratch project. Pupils are shown how to access the ‘Sounds’ tab, select from different sound options—such as choosing from the Scratch library, recording their own, uploading a file, or selecting a surprise sound—and add these to their project. The video explains how to browse sound categories like animals or effects and how selecting a sound will make it appear in the project’s sound section.

The narrative continues by demonstrating how to return to the coding area and use the pink sound blocks to play chosen sounds. Pupils learn how to drag and test the sound blocks on the stage and insert them into their code to explore the effect of adding audio to their animations or games. This helps them understand how sound can enhance digital projects and supports their progression in using multimedia within coding environments.
