Learning about remixing in code

This Computing video introduces the pupil to the idea of remixing code – an important skill for helping Key Stage 2 pupils build confidence and creativity in coding. It explains how remixing allows pupils to take an existing project and personalise it by making changes to suit their own ideas.

The video walks through a practical example of remixing a Scratch quiz about zero waste. It demonstrates how to update questions, swap sprites, change backgrounds, and add engaging feedback and animations, all while keeping the structure of the original project.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Year 4 Computing Computational thinking unit. It supports teachers in guiding pupils to develop coding fluency by building on existing work, encouraging experimentation, creativity and critical thinking.
