Using the micro:bit to check the weather

This Computing video shows pupils how to program a BBC micro:bit to act as a simple weather checker using its built-in temperature sensor. Pupils learn how to program the micro:bit to display the temperature reading using the built-in temperature sensor. The video introduces the use of conditional statements, comparing the sensor’s output against a set values. Pupils then program the micro:bit to display a sad face if the temperature is 10 degrees or below, or a happy face if it is above 10 degrees. By combining inputs, sensors and conditions, pupils see how the micro:bit can respond to real-world data.

This video is part of the Year 5 Programming 2:BBC micro:bit unit. It provides clear, step-by-step guidance, helping pupils understand how sensors and conditional logic can be used to create meaningful, real-world applications.
