Using prints to make artwork

This Art and design scheme of work video supports pupils as they repurpose their prints to create brand new pieces of art, using their  creativity to explore different outcomes.

Pupils are encouraged to choose how they want to use their prints. One option is to create a hanging mobile. Another option is to select a favourite print and mount it on paper or card for display, thinking carefully about composition. Pupils can also cut their prints into shapes and arrange them into abstract designs, sticking the pieces onto a background to hold them in place. The video suggests more experimental approaches too, like folding or rolling the prints to create 3D models, inspired by artists who work with maps and paper forms.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Year 2 Map it out unit.
