Animal offspring and life cycles

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and takes them on a journey through the animal kingdom to discover how baby animals grow into adults. The video introduces the term “offspring” and explores a variety of animals, from chicks and owlets to ducklings, cygnets, and tadpoles. Pupils see how some young, like caterpillars and dragonfly nymphs, look very different from the adults they become. The journey continues through hatchlings like turtles and alligators, fry in the ocean, and even human children – highlighting how all animals go through a life cycle.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, Key stage 1, Year 2, Animals, including humans: Life cycles and health, Lesson 1: The human life cycle
