Muscle challenges

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work. In this activity, you will try different challenges to explore how muscles in your body work and react.

Working in pairs, one person holds their arms down beside their body while the other stops them from lifting their arms outwards. After twenty seconds, slowly release and notice the difference. Try finding your palmaris longus tendon by touching your thumb and little finger together with your wrist curled, or by placing your palm up under a desk and bending your wrist. Next, place your hand palm down on a desk, tuck your middle finger under, and try to lift your ring finger. Finally, stretch your arm out and squeeze an object or peg-see who can hold and squeeze the longest.
