Exploring mountains

This Geography video introduces Key stage 2 pupils to how mountains are formed, building their understanding of the Earth’s surface and the forces that shape it. It explains the role of tectonic plates and their movement, showing how pushing, pulling or sliding against each other changes the Earth’s crust to create different types of mountains. Pupils also learn how mountain ranges form, why they are often found along plate boundaries and how some were created millions of years ago when the plates were in different positions.

This video simplifies complex physical geography concepts, ensuring teachers feel confident and prepared to help children explore how our ever-changing planet creates its most dramatic landscapes.
