A guide to using Microsoft MakeCode to write programs for the BBC micro:bit
This Design and technology video introduces the children to Microsoft MakeCode and shows them how to write simple programs for the BBC micro:bit. Through a clear, step-by-step demonstration, the children learn how to access MakeCode, start a new project and open previously saved work.
The video explores the main areas of MakeCode, including the coding workspace, block menu and micro:bit simulator. The children are guided to create a simple program that makes the micro:bit LEDs flash, helping them develop confidence in using blocks to write and test code.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
