A musical introduction to the UK’s capital cities
This Geography scheme of work video helps teachers introduce pupils to the four capital cities of the UK through a repetitive and catchy song format, reinforcing geographical knowledge and recall through rhythm, rhyme and repetition.
The song introduces London (England), Edinburgh (Scotland), Cardiff (Wales), and Belfast (Northern Ireland), embedding a key fact for each (e.g. “It’s got a castle”, “It’s on a coastline”). Teachers can use the video as a hook, for singing along, or to support learning about the UK’s countries and capital cities in a memorable, engaging way. This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Geography – Countries and capital cities of the UK videos. It supports teachers in delivering knowledge in a fun and musical way, ideal for EYFS or Year 1 and Year 2 learning.
