Using online 3D CAD to design an outdoor adventure product

In this Design and technology video, the pupils learn the basics of how to use Tinkercad and see some examples of how to use the tools that will equip them to design products.

The video introduces the basics of using Tinkercad to design simple 3D models. After logging in and starting a new 3D design, users work on the workplane by adding, resizing, moving, rotating, copying and colouring basic shapes, while using the view cube to check models from different angles. It also shows how to use the tools to further edit shapes and create holes in them – skills required for making a micro:bit case.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
