Exploring Picasso and Blanchard

This Spanish video explores the lives and work of two famous Spanish artists, Pablo Picasso and Maria Blanchard, and how they helped to create and develop a bold new style of art called Cubism.

Year 5 children learn that Picasso, born in Malaga in 1881, became a world-famous artist known for using bold colours and geometric shapes to show objects from different angles at the same time. Maria Blanchard, born in the same year in Santander, developed her own flowing version of Cubism that was full of movement and emotion. Despite facing many challenges, both artists made a lasting impact on how we see and create art today, inspiring generations of artists around the world.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Spanish Year 5 and 6 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to develop language skills and communicate with confidence in Spanish.
