This Music video introduces Year 3 pupils to reading and performing simple rhythms using crotchets, paired quavers and crotchet rests. Children learn how each note value represents a different rhythm and use familiar words to help them recognise and perform rhythmic patterns.

The video supports pupils in developing their understanding of rhythm by linking note values to simple spoken words before applying them through clapping activities. Children practise keeping a steady beat while reading and performing four-beat rhythms with increasing confidence and accuracy.

Through guided demonstrations and repeated practice, pupils strengthen their rhythmic reading skills and develop the foundations needed to perform and create their own rhythms. The video encourages active participation and supports children in building fluency and confidence in rhythm performance.
