Sort it like a scientist

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Science scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and introduces how scientists sort and group living things using a tool called a classification key. The video explains how a series of yes/no questions can be used to group things like leaves based on their features. Pupils are shown how to think like a taxonomist – starting with describing words to create their own classification keys. Through hands-on exploration, learners discover how to carefully observe, question, and organise information to understand the natural world.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Science, key stage 2, Year 4, Living things: Classification and changing habitats, Lesson 2: Grouping living things: Plants
