Planning and building programs

This Computing scheme of work introduces pupils to planning and building simple programs using MakeCode. It supports pupils as they explore input, output and repetition using easy-to-understand block-based coding.

The video walks through the functions of key blocks such as on start, forever, and input triggers like on button A pressed. It shows how to use basic blocks to control the LED display, add animations, and create interactive elements using buttons and gestures.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Year 2 Computing Programming 2: MakeCode unit. It helps teachers guide pupils in using MakeCode to break down ideas into steps, encouraging creativity, logical thinking and hands-on coding with real-world outcomes.
