Building the automaton frame

This Design and technology scheme of work guides the children through the process of assembling the frame for their automaton toys, with clear, step-by-step instructions. The children learn how to position and glue the A, B and C components, align the holes for moving parts and attach the card panels and supports securely. The video helps the children understand how to keep their frames accurate and stable, ready for adding the cam and follower mechanisms in the next stage.

By following this video, the children will feel confident and supported as they build a sturdy automaton frame during the lesson.
