Geography in Action - Exploring the real world with Mike Leach (Part 1)
This Geography scheme of work video introduces pupils to real-life geography in action through a conversation with Mike Leach, a field geographer and nature expert. Pupils discover what it means to work in geography beyond the classroom, and how geographical skills are used to study and protect the natural world.
In this first part of the interview, Mike explains how he explores different landscapes, observes animal behaviour and uses maps and tools to collect information. He shares stories about his work outdoors and explains why understanding geography is important when studying the environment.
The video brings geography to life by connecting classroom learning to real-world careers and shows pupils how observing, recording and asking questions are skills they can already practise as young geographers.
This video is part of Kapow Primary – Geography in Action pupil videos supporting pupils in developing curiosity about the world and understanding how geography is used in the real world.
