Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Should use the Activity: People in our local community to help scaffold their idea; should use the Presentation: Word bank for support with their writing; could focus on writing the name of their chosen job role, where they work and what they would like to ask; should write about a job that they are familiar with.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should be encouraged to answer the challenge question, ‘What would our local community be like if nobody did this job? Why?’ and to describe the impact this would have on the local community; should be encouraged to write about their chosen person freehand in full sentences/paragraphs, rather than writing on the activity sheet.
