Please note: This preview document shows which Kapow Primary RSE & PSHE units cover each of the 2025 statutory guidance statements. It will be updated to add further information on which specific lessons support each statement as the scheme is developed.
How does this document assist schools in meeting the DfE’s statutory RSE and Health Education guidance requirements?
In 2025, the DfE published revised statutory guidance about what should be covered in schools in terms of Relationships and sex education (RSE) and Health education.
This statutory guidance lists a number of target statements for the end of primary school, grouped under the following RSE headings: Families and people who care for me, Caring friendships, Respectful relationships, Online relationships, and Being safe.
For Health education, the target statements fall under the following headings: Mental wellbeing; Internet safety and harms; Physical health and fitness; Healthy eating; Drugs, alcohol and tobacco; Health and prevention; Basic first aid; and Changing adolescent body.
This sample document exemplifies these target statements and outlines which Kapow Primary RSE & PSHE lessons work towards each aim. The statements are also met within Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE: Long-term plan – mixed age scheme.
