RSE guidance is changing and Kapow Primary is ready.
From September 2026, the updated statutory guidance for Relationships and Sex and Health Education (RSHE) comes into force across the UK.
Kapow Primary’s new scheme has been carefully designed to help schools feel fully supported, fully prepared and fully compliant – with a curriculum that is progressive, inclusive and rooted in best practice. With built-in subject knowledge support, clear mapping to statutory requirements, and resources that make parent communication easier, you can deliver RSE with clarity, confidence and consistency.

What’s the vision for Kapow Primary’s revised RSE & PSHE scheme?
A progressive and purposeful PSHE and RSE scheme that supports children to thrive in today’s world – helping them build the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to become healthy, safe and active citizens, now and in the future.
You can read more about the rationale behind the new RSE & PSHE curriculum here.
What’s included in the scheme?
A fully planned, carefully sequenced programme that supports teacher confidence as much as pupil learning.
Our spiral curriculum approach ensures concepts are revisited and deepened across year groups, so pupils build understanding over time — in a way that is age-appropriate, meaningful and manageable.
Lessons are delivered through nine key areas:
- My healthy self
- Connecting with others
- The online world
- Staying safe
- Citizenship (optional as currently non-statutory — although Citizenship will be included in the new National Curriculum due for teaching in September 2028)
- Health protection
- Growing up
- Sex education (optional as non-statutory)
- First aid (optional as non-statutory)
What does each unit include?
Each unit contains everything teachers need to deliver high-quality lessons with ease:
- Six lessons, linked to a clear overall unit enquiry question
- Assessment
- Knowledge organiser
- Key vocabulary
What does each lesson include?
Every lesson is designed to reduce workload and increase confidence, with built-in support throughout:
- Clear learning objectives
- Bite-sized teacher CPD videos and guidance
- Inclusive-by-design pedagogy
- Adaptive teaching strategies
- Regular assessment opportunities
- Engaging pupil videos
We’ve also created a bespoke set of characters, created in consultation with SEND and DEI specialists to ensure accurate representation, that feature across scenarios, presentations and videos – helping pupils explore sensitive topics safely and confidently.
Teachers can adapt lessons to suit their school context, policies and pupils’ needs, while keeping a consistent, progressive approach across the whole school.
Support beyond the lesson: everything schools need to implement with confidence
To help subject leaders and teachers feel fully prepared, the scheme includes clear supporting documentation that makes implementation and communication straightforward.
You’ll receive:
- Mapping that shows how the scheme meets statutory guidance
- Coverage of British values, SMSC development and protected characteristics
- Access to a dedicated online curriculum portal, so schools can review long-term plans and progression clearly
- Practical tools such as equipment lists, parent guides and policy guidance
This means you can confidently demonstrate intent, implementation and impact and reassure parents and governors with clarity.
Will it fulfil the requirements of the updated 2025 RSE statutory guidance?
Yes. The scheme meets the statutory requirements for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (2025) set out by the DfE.
It also supports schools to deliver high-quality PSHE and RSE, giving you a clear, compliant programme that’s easy to implement and evidence.
How does Kapow RSE support pupils’ wider personal development?
Kapow Primary’s revised scheme supports pupils’ Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development, alongside the promotion of British values, through carefully planned opportunities to:
- explore different perspectives
- reflect on emotional and ethical issues
- build positive relationships rooted in respect and tolerance
Structured discussion and collaborative activities also strengthen oracy, helping pupils to listen actively, articulate ideas clearly and engage in respectful dialogue.
Why choose Kapow Primary RSE?
RSE is one of the most important, and sometimes most sensitive, areas of the curriculum. That’s why Kapow Primary’s scheme has been developed with care, expertise and real classroom needs in mind.
We’ve worked in conjunction with specialists including:
- nutritionists
- RSE and PSHE consultants
- subject leaders and teachers
- SENDCOs
- diversity and inclusion specialists
For teachers, the scheme provides consistent, progressive curriculum content. Plus, built-in support through bite-sized CPD videos, so staff can feel confident with both subject knowledge and delivery.
For pupils, our bespoke set of characters adds a layer of safety and reassurance. This “distancing technique” allows children to discuss sensitive topics without having to share personal experiences, helping to:
- reduce embarrassment
- reduce safeguarding risks
- encourage honest discussion and empathy
- support thoughtful, age-appropriate problem-solving
Will there be any support for parents?
Yes. Supporting parent communication is a key part of the revised scheme.
Schools will have access to resources designed to promote transparency and reassurance, including:
- clear overviews of what will be taught
- guidance on sensitive topics
- videos and presentations
- a parent area on the website with information and FAQs
These materials are designed to build trust, support positive home–school relationships, and help parents feel fully informed and confident.
When will the new lessons be available?
Our revised scheme will be rolled out from February 2026, giving teachers plenty of time to explore the new resources and prepare for delivery in September 2026.
