Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
- Could use pre-cut card triangles joined with PVA glue to reinforce corners and joints instead of sawing additional wooden struts, reducing the fine-motor and tool-use demands while still meeting the reinforcement success criterion.
- Could use the Knowledge organiser to recall key vocabulary, such as ‘reinforce’ and ‘aesthetic’, when explaining the purpose of their finish.
Pupils working at greater depth:
- Should explain clearly why a specific stabilising or reinforcing change has been used (for example, identifying how adding triangulation strengthens the structure and prevents it from changing shape).
- Could apply finer details with greater accuracy to enhance the aesthetic finish, such as neat paint edges or carefully applied cladding.
