Aiming and shooting with control

This PE scheme of work video introduces teachers to the techniques needed to help Key stage 2 pupils develop accuracy when aiming and shooting in football lessons. It focuses on applying basic passing technique to shooting along the ground, using the inside of the foot to strike the middle of the ball while maintaining balance and control. Teachers will be guided through the key steps, including planting the non-kicking foot, using a smooth backswing for power, and supporting pupils in developing stability and confidence through practice and repetition.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s PE Football resources. It simplifies the process, introducing fun and effective activities such as “Moving Pins” and a four-goal team game, where pupils work on shooting accuracy, decision-making and teamwork. With clear guidance and purposeful play, teachers will feel confident helping pupils refine their shooting skills as they build towards more advanced football techniques in future units.
