A guide to programming a celebration on a pedometer, using Microsoft MakeCode.

In this Design and technology video, the pupils are guided through how to use Microsoft MakeCode to program a celebration on a pedometer. The video demonstrates how to build a program using logic blocks, including “if then” and comparison blocks, to trigger an action when a specific number of steps is reached. It explains how pupils can customise their program by setting different step targets and adding celebratory icons when goals are achieved. It also shows how to ensure the step count continues to display at other times and encourages children to test their code using the simulator to check it works correctly.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
