Pupil video: Ball control skills

Kick, tap, control

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow PE scheme of work. It is designed for pupils and introduces a range of ball control skills to build coordination and agility. It begins with toe taps, placing one foot at a time on top of the ball, and bell taps, passing the ball between the insides of both feet. Pupils then practise pushing the ball sideways with the outside of each foot and performing outside stepovers, circling the feet around the ball without touching it. The final skill is the drag back, using the sole to pull the ball back before tapping it forwards. Pupils are encouraged to use both feet for each activity and to practise regularly, helping them to improve their control and confidently move past defenders.
