Kapow Primary supports schools’

Consent

As part of this preventative approach, pupils also develop an understanding of the concepts of permission and consent. This begins with concrete examples, such as asking permission to use someone else’s equipment and gradually develops into understanding that permission is needed to touch someone’s body and that people have different boundaries.

In Upper key stage 2, the word consent is introduced as vocabulary to describe this idea more precisely. This is taught in the context of respectful behaviour, personal boundaries and healthy relationships, not sexual consent.

Sexual harassment

While the scheme does not explicitly teach about sexual harassment at primary level, it addresses the underlying behaviours and attitudes that contribute to child-on-child abuse, as expected by statutory guidance. This supports a school culture in which pupils are more likely to recognise harm, speak up and seek help.
