Understanding emotional changes during puberty
This RSE & PSHE video helps the children understand how feelings and emotions can change as they grow up. The video introduces puberty as a time of both physical and emotional change, helping them recognise that experiencing different emotions is a normal part of development.
The children learn that emotions can sometimes feel stronger or change more quickly during puberty. The video explores feelings such as happiness, excitement, worry, frustration and embarrassment, and explains that factors such as tiredness, stress and everyday experiences can affect how we feel. It also introduces the idea that growing up can bring greater independence and new social experiences, which may lead to different thoughts and emotions.
The video reassures the children that everyone experiences emotional changes differently and that there is no right or wrong way to feel. It encourages them to talk to trusted adults if they are worried or confused and reminds them that sharing feelings can help them understand and manage their emotions.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE KS2 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
