Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support:

  • Could use Audio 1 from slide 3 of the Presentation: Singing in two parts to rehearse the harmony slowly by matching pitch and rhythm before singing with the class.
  • Could stand next to confident singers to match pitch and timing by listening carefully to neighbouring voices.
  • Could clap or tap the steady beat to maintain timing when singing their part.

Pupils working at greater depth:

  • Should lead their group when performing by maintaining the steady beat and modelling clear, confident singing.
  • Should provide feedback on another group’s performance by identifying one strength and suggesting one improvement related to pitch, timing or clarity.
