Adaptive Teaching
Pupils needing extra support
Could draw pictures of the Sefer Torah and the Chumash and talk about some of the key differences, e.g. The Sefer Torah is a large sacred scroll used in a synagogue and the Chumash is a small, easy-to-read, holy book used in the home; could be given sorting hoops labelled Sefer Torah and Chumash and be given only six simple word cards from the Activity: Which word, where? to sort.
Pupils working at greater depth
Should add additional words to each section of the Venn diagram in the Activity: Which word, where?, e.g. inspired, divine, difficult, useful; could be given blank cards to write true and false facts about the Sefer Torah or the Chumash, e.g. The Chumash is handwritten (false), the Torah scroll is kept on a shelf in the home (false) and use these with peers in the Wrapping up.
