Lesson plan

Recap and recall

Explain to the children that they will be thinking about helping others. Display the Presentation: Agree or disagree? and read the statement aloud. Ask the children to work with a partner to discuss the statement and to decide whether they agree. Remind the children that they need to explain their answer.

Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could focus on one quote from the Activity: Quotes about caring for others; could find one quote for each type of Sewa; could have the quotes recorded on a device to re-listen to them.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could identify which quotes are connected to the Sikh worldview and which are about jobs that involve helping people; should draw pictures of other examples of Sewa to add to the sugar paper.
