Recap and recall

As this is the first unit in Key stage 1, there is no knowledge to recap with the children. In EYFS (Reception), the children learnt to log in and out of a computer, which is revisited in this unit.

Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Should stick to brushes before moving on to shapes; should be given time to get comfortable navigating the mouse pointer and using the mouse to left-click; could be supported using the mouse if they have issues with fine motor control.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should be encouraged to explore more complex tools, such as clipart or some sliding scales under the shapes toolkit.
