Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing support:
- Could use the click function on the Presentation: How do emotions and feelings look? to see examples of what a feeling or emotion may look like on our faces or bodies.
- Could use the Activity: Feeling calm and excited pictures to select and stick images that represent calming and enjoyable activities, supporting them to talk about their ideas.
- Could refer to slides 1 and 2 of the Presentation: Feeling good to identify one calming and one enjoyable activity before completing their sheet.
- Could rehearse the sentence starter ‘When I…, it makes me feel…’ before explaining their picture to a partner.
Pupils working at greater depth:
- Should explain why rest and enjoyable activities are important by linking them to feeling calm, excited or energised.
- Should suggest and explain a strategy they could use when not feeling calm or excited, giving a clear reason why it would help.
- Could write a brief label underneath each picture on the Activity: Feeling calm and excited: extension to describe how it makes them feel.
