Y5/6 (B): Lesson 1: Cities of the Ancient Maya

Before starting this unit, check that the children can recall:

• Phrases for giving opinions: En mi opinion – in my opinion.

• A range of reading strategies, including identifying cognates, use of context, knowledge of root words and knowledge of grammar.

• Who the Ancient Maya were and where and when they lived: Spanish, Year 5/6 (B), Sports in Spanish, Lesson 3: The Maya ball game and History, Year 3/4 (B), How did the achievements of the ancient Maya impact their society and beyond?
