1. Recap and recall
Before starting this unit, check that the children can recall:
- A range of adjectives to describe people, places and things: Spanish, Y3/4 (A): Unit 3: Pets and colours in Spanish and Spanish, Year 5/6 (A): Unit 5, A trip across Spain.
- Phrases for giving opinions: En mi opinion – in my opinion.
A range of reading strategies, including identifying cognates, use of context, knowledge of root words and knowledge of grammar.
- Who the Ancient Maya were and where and when they lived: Spanish, Year 5/6 (B), Sports in Spanish, Lesson 3: The Maya ball game and History, Year 3/4 (B), How did the achievements of the ancient Maya impact their society and beyond?
