Before starting this unit, you might want to check the children can recall:
The key phonemes c/z, e and i – these can be revised using the Pupil phonics videos, as needed.
- That numbers 1-12 in Spanish are: uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once and doce. (This is covered in the activity below.)
- How to ask and answer the following questions giving basic information about themselves: ¿Cómo te llamas? - What is your name? Me llamo ... - My name is ...; ¿Cuántos años tienes? - How old are you? Tengo... años. - I am ... years old.
Recalling numbers 1 - 12
Display slide 1 of the Presentation: Secret code and encourage the children to work in pairs to say, in Spanish, the numbers 1 to 12, which they know from Spanish, Y3/4 (A), Numbers and ages.
