Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
- Could begin with the showering sequencing cards in the Main event to build confidence before sequencing the cards relating to genital hygiene.
- Could use the Activity: Hygiene sequencing cards – support version and place the missing picture cards from the Activity: Hygiene sequencing cards onto the template in the correct order.
Pupils working at greater depth:
- Should use vocabulary from the lesson to explain why hygiene routines become increasingly important during puberty in the Main event. For example: ‘Hormones activate our sweat glands. We produce more sweat and oils which can cause body odour.’
- Could record the items needed for each hygiene routine on a whiteboard while sequencing the cards in the Main event, for example, unscented soap, deodorant or shower gel.
